HEALTH & SAFETY CHAIRPERSON

QUALIFICATIONS

The Pack Health and Safety Chairperson must meet BSA membership requirements, be at least 21 years of age, and register with the Boy Scouts of America as an adult leader. The Pack Health and Safety Chairperson is selected by the pack committee, with the approval of the charter organization. Complete pack committee Fast Start Training and Basic Leader Training for the position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Keep unit leaders informed to the current policies and procedures related to Health and Safety, Accident Prevention, Health Education, Fitness and Aquatics. Be on the alert for health and safety needs in the Pack, conduct periodic inspections of the Pack's meeting place as well as camping and activity sites used by the Pack. Should be currently certified by the American Red Cross in Standard First Aid which includes CPR (it is not required but would be especially good to be an American Red Cross Instructor in Standard First Aid and CPR). Serve as Pack Health and Safety Chairperson for all Pack events and activities. Establish and maintain liason with the District Health and Safety Committee. Work with the District Training Chairperson to promote health and safety training courses for adults and Scouts in the Pack. Contact the District's Health and Safety Committee Chairperson for assistance in implementing this program in your Pack.
