QUALIFICATIONS

The Troop Merit Badge Coordinator must meet BSA membership requirements, be at least 21 years of age, and register with the Boy Scouts of America as an adult leader.

The Troop Merit Badge Coordinator is selected by the troop committee, with the approval of the charter organization.

Complete troop committee Fast Start Training, Youth Protection Training, New Leader Essentials and Troop Committee Challenge.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead in troop Merit Badge class planning efforts.
  • Maintain a listing of troop Merit Badge Counselors.
  • Insure that the Troop Merit Badge Counselor lists are accurate and up to date.
  • Insure that the District and Council lists are kept current for troop members.
  • Help identify new Merit Badge opportunities.
  • Arrange for safe transportation.
  • Register Scouts for Merit Badge classes.
  • Get registration forms, send out and collect with payment.
  • Provide leadership and arrange for other adults to help when needed.
  • Conduct the troop resource survey.
  • Report to the troop committee at each meeting.
