QUALIFICATIONS
|
The Troop Health and Safety Coordinator must meet BSA
membership requirements, be at least 21 years of age, and
register with the Boy Scouts of America as an adult
leader.
The Troop Health and Safety Coordinator is selected by
the Troop committee, with the approval of the charter
organization.
Complete troop committee Fast Start Training, Youth Protection Training, New Leader Essentials and Troop Committee Challenge.
Should also have Weather Hazards, Safe Swim Defense, Safety Afloat, Climb
On Safely, Trek Safety, and Risk Management.

RESPONSIBILITIES
|
- Keep unit leaders informed to the current policies
and procedures related to Health and Safety, Accident
Prevention, Health Education, Fitness and Aquatics.
- Be on the alert for health and safety needs in the
Troop, conduct periodic inspections of the Troop's
meeting place as well as camping and activity sites used
by the Troop.
- Should be currently certified by the American Red
Cross in Standard First Aid which includes CPR (it is not
required but would be especially good to be an American
Red Cross Instructor in Standard First Aid and CPR).
- Serve as Troop Health and Safety Chairperson for all
Troop events and activities.
- Establish and maintain liason with the District
Health and Safety Committee.
- Work with the District Training Chairperson to
promote health and safety training courses for adults and
Scouts in the Troop.

your Troop.
