All programs will take place at the W. Goodrich Jones State Forest classroom, 1328 FM 1488 Road, Conroe, Texas 77384 in cooperation with the Texas Forest Service and Heartwood Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists

* April 27th -28th - Arbor Day on William Goodrich Jones State Forest, free tree give-a-way, nature hikes, fishing, picnicking call 936/273-2261 for information

* May 12 - National Endangered Species Day - Project Learning Tree training for educators and informal educators. Cost for this event is $20 or $35 at door. Jones State Forest classroom. Start time 9am.

* May 26 - Nature Photography class. Open to public. Learn composition and lighting techniques for outdoor, wildlife photography. Includes ethical behavior for nature photographers. Jones Forest Classroom and outdoors on site. Start time 9am.

* June 1 - Nature Safari for ages 6 - 10 years. Bats, Moths, Owls & Howls... Oh My! Evening activities on Jones State Forest. Visit www.heartwoodtmn.org for details.

* July 14 - Tree ID Basics. Open to public. Workshop to learn basics of tree identification, and how to collect data for urban tree inventories, including data forms. Start time 1:30pm. Jones State Forest Classroom. Visit www.heartwoodtmn.org for details.

* September 15 - Sketching for Naturalists. Workshop is open to the public. Includes techniques to becoming better observers of nature. Journaling sketching. Start time 9 am. Jones State Forest Classroom.

* October 5 - 6 - Citizen Wildfire Ecology Specialist training. Open to public. Learn basics of wildfire ecology and understand the Urban-Wildland Interface, including how to assess risks for homes and property in the UWI. Registration anticipated to be $25. Jones State Forest Classroom on Friday, Field Study on forest on Saturday at Jones State Forest. Start time Friday 8am. 12-hour course for participants interested in training in community planning and assessments.

* October 26 - 27 - Texas Forest Expo and Institute. Lone Star Convention Center in Conroe. Details to be announced.

* November 10 - Mushroom Workshop and Walk - "The Fungus Among Us". Open to public. Learn about the intriguing world of fungi in the forest and take a walk along the Sweetleaf Trail at Jones State Forest to see fungi at work. Jones State Forest classroom and on site. Start time 9am.

* December 1 - Holiday Decoration - Integrate Natural Materials Found in the Woods. Open to the public. Learn techniques for creating unique holiday decorations with materials at hand on the forest. Jones State Forest Classroom. Start time 9am.
