The theme of the Fall Camporee has always been the Webelos Transition. Making the transition a fun one, not just for the scout but also for the parent.
The Fall camporee staff is comprised of many leaders and scouts that want the Webelos to have lots of fun and help their transition to be a smooth one. Boy Scout skills are emphasized in the morning program. The Webelos will be taught several skills by Boys Scout leaders and scouts. The skills will be knots and lashings, fire building skills and safety, and wood tools. The Webelos parents will be at a special session teaching them these same skills. They will also be treated to a session on the transitional period and given important information on boy scouting. The afternoon program will be games geared to the skills that they have just learned. Several scouts will be roaming with a fun game about Merit badges, to open your imagination on the great adventure that lie ahead.
The theme "Scouting A Bridge to Adventure" is to let the Webelos know that there is so much more for them, once they cross over into Boy Scouting. This is truly when the adventure begins
Come and join us in the Adventure
The monkey "bridge" is a long boy scout tradition back to Lord Baden-Powell. He brought the idea back from India where three long ropes were connected together so that one rope forms into a foot path
Since then it has somewhat become a boy scout tradition. It can be an adventure for a scout. I would like to take that further to say not only can a rope make a bridge but it can also be used to save someones life, make a shelter, climb a mountain or rock and many more adventures. It has also been known to represent friendships, which we know lasting friendship can come out of adventure and scouting. This is the center focus of the theme.
The fleur-de-lis represents scouting and the red, white and blue, of course our country. The gray background represents God and the endless sky. Life is not all blue skies, but your scout skills and your faith in God will teach you to overcome anything and then "the skys the limit." You are the only one that can ground yourself ! So, aim high and FLY WITH THE EAGLES !!
Grey T-shirts have been designated as staff. The same design T-shirt in a Khaki Sand color will be available for sale. (Pre orders) The design will be on the front and back of the T-shirt.
Patches will be given as part of your registration fee.
